Horse riding in Croatia

In Croatia you ride along the Adriatic coast and in the hinterland. Rides are offered near Dubrovnik, near Knin in the Dalmatian hinterland, in Istria near Fažana and at the Plitvice Lakes in Lika. The climate falls into three zones: the coast is Mediterranean, in summer mostly clear with a daily sea breeze. The interior is continental, and the high ground of Lika carries a long, snowy season. On the northern Adriatic the bora blows, a northeasterly wind that is strongest in winter and known for its gusts. The Plitvice Lakes lie between the Mala Kapela and Lička Plješivica ranges, and the national park is open all year. As a planning hint: for coastal rides spring and autumn are an option, for Lika the snow-free season. Before booking, ask the provider about riding level, duration and time of day, and how they handle wind or rain.
