Horse riding in France

The Camargue in the Rhône delta is horse country. Camargue horses and bulls are bred here. The climate is Mediterranean. The defining feature is the mistral, a dry, strong north wind that can last several days. It is often stronger in winter and spring and can also set in on hot summer days. In return it often brings clear skies. As a planning hint: many riders choose spring or early autumn when heat becomes a burden, but you should allow for wind. The Camargue suits you if landscape, herds and a calm ride matter more to you than speed. Before booking, ask the provider about riding level, group size, duration and time of day, and how they handle strong wind.
